Lucifron
Lucifron is a large naga mage, the first boss in Molten Core. Presently he is also the easiest boss in the Molten Core, but don't underestimate him for that reason.
Lucifron's Abilities
Lucifron has several abilities that he uses during the fight. They are as follows:
Impending Doom :
This is a 2000 point shadow damage DoT. The damage is all done at the end of the 10 second timer not spread out over the 10 seconds. So you should get a priest to remove it quickly and you wont take any damage.
Area Effect Curse :
Doubles the cost of abilities before talents are considered. Mage/Druid should remove.
Strategy
Initial Positions :
Like so many other situations in which you have to kill a harder than average mob in World of Warcraft the positioning and the initial pull is of outmost importance.
With Lucifron there is 2 adds, both of which have a nasty ability : To Mind Control Players. Combined with Lucifrons AoE Curse it is a mana intensive situation… which is solved by splitting the mobs.
The initial positioning for the pull should look something like the following.
The Pull :
A Paladin will stand with the Main Tank on the right side slope of the cavern. Once Lucifron and his adds approach he will activate Divine Shield, and move towards Lucifron. This will mark the initial pull, for Lucifron and his adds will all move towards the Paladin. The Main tank will then take over and tank Lucifron away from the rest of the raid.
As soon as the Paladin gets their attention 2 hunters will use Distracting Shot on the adds, and separate them from Lucifron, moving them towards the location of the rest of the raid, at the most southern part of the cavern. Here two tanks will be on standby to grap the aggro and tank till such time that the rest of the raid can engage the adds and take them down safely.
Main Tank party : This should be a tank and priest/druids. They will keep the curses and Impending Doom off their party while healing the tank. The healers need to work out a rotation beforehand. This party's ONLY duty is to stay alive so Lucifron is tanked.
Once the guards are dead, you have time to use bandages and so on, the raid will focus on Lucifron.
When approaching Lucifron it’s easy to get lost in the heat of battle and forget where to stand and where not to stand. Keep your cool and remember to move to the RIGHT of the small rock formation.
Priest primary duty will be busy keeping Impending Doom off party members, so use a bandage when you can. Druids primary duty will be curse removal, healing secondary; combat rez if needed (tank party/healers most important, then curse removers).
Primary Decurse / Dispell targets :
Priest/Druid/Tank
Secondary De-curse / Dispel targets: Paladin/Mage/Warlock
Tetiary Decurse / Dispell targets :
Warrior/Rogue/Hunter
The rest of the party will be attacking Lucifron. Hate control is important, and use of bandages is important - the healers will be busy. If mana becomes low, healers should focus on removing curses from themselves, keeping the tank alive, and allowing the curse to remain on the non healing, non tanking raid members. Impending Doom MUST be removed from any raid member though. The non-healing, non-tanking raid members can wand / auto attack in the worst case.
Notes :
Important while the adds are alive is to use –any- Fear ability you have, that means as soon as cooldown of a fear ability runs out, you must use it even if it doesn’t have any effect on the adds. The reason for this is cause if they Mind Control you and use this ability then the raid will be out of control and be at risk of pulling adds.
Should any prson be mind controlled it’s important that Priests or Paladins remove this ASAP.
Healer Setup :
Ideal Setup:
MT(Warrior)=Priest+Druid+Paladin
Offtank1(Warrior)=Priest/Druid+Paly
Offtank2(Warrior)=Priest/Druid+Paly
Raid=Rest
1xPriest to Dispell
Alternative Setup:
MT(Warrior)=Priest/Druid + Priest/Druid/Paly + Priest/Druid/Paly
Offtank1(Warrior)=Priest/Druid/Paly + Priest/Druid/Paly
Offtank2(Warrior)=Priest/Druid/Paly + Priest/Druid/Paly
Raid=Rest
1xPriest/Druid to Dispell
NOTE:The priest dispelling should focus on dispelling the Tanks first, then Healers and then the rest.
